The book by George Mandel tells the story of a group of G.I's fighting their way across France and Germany; the reson for the title of the book is that they are constantly searching for wax and candles to give themselves light in the dark hours.
It is one of the greatest book ever written about the Second World War and if you are at all interested in the period its a must have.The Americans at the top are by Airfix.The metal G.I's are from Toy soldier shop. Note the difference in uniforms.
