The Bersaglieri figure is one of the greatest 54mm figures ever made but I changed his sword to a proper Bersaglieri one
In the first the converted figure has the original bayonet, while it is a bit thin it works but the problem is that very often these pieces come out of the mould with half the bayonet missing.

The second shots show a Union infantryman with a bayonet built up with putty; it doesn't work really but the Zouave has a metal one attached, it looks the bizz yeah?
Theser pieces need a slight touching up and then they will be ready for casting into metal(obviously you do not have to paint the thing first but I like to see how its gonna look;it also lets me see if its worth casting. One of the resons I cast conversions is that its the best way to get a good line of soldiers in the same pose; I'm interested in doing these in resin ; they are after all nearly original sculpts. The addition of metal bayonets really enhances a plastic piece.
Interesting blogging!
