german para

German paratroopers wore grey camouflage smocks over their Luftwaffe blue combat uniforms. Germany's parachute troops were not army personnel, but air force men. They wore the flying Luftwaffe eagle on their helmets and tunics. Various types of camouflage were used by the Luftwaffe paratroopers.

The German Luft3waffe was one of the first to widely issue an automatic rifle to its paratroopers. The FG42 gave Fallschirmjager greater firepower than their enemies.
