THe Marines were not very popular with some of the American high command, in fact during WW2 there were those that wanted to scrap them altogether, the reasons are/were because of rivalry with the army. The record of the marines in WW2 was not better than army units but these famous troops struck a cord within the public and helped morale.At the top we see the new unifoms after Wake Island.Then a trench shot of Marines fighting the Japs; note only the helmet is cammo.Below is a marine in the ETOW. He wears the unpopulat cammo uniform lastly given to French units in Vietnam (still employed in Africa). Below are a couple of dolls;here the whole colour scheme is wrong.
