they died with their boots on

I had these as a kid as they were cheap. I had countless games with them but I always preferred the Britains because even kids can see better quality but yeah I enjoyed playing with these. Why didn't they do a custer? I think you could easily do one. Just buy from divinia Hill her cavalier figures then cut the head off and stick it on the Scout  that comes with these and you got errol Flynn below. Just cut the rifle arm away and add an arm with a pistol

colonel callan fought to the end

A mercenary is, by definition in wordIQ online dictionary, "a soldier who fights for money, regardless of ideological, national or political consideration" For a far lengthier, if more legally correct, definition, see http://www.wordiq.com/definition/Mercenary Special Forces Or Mercenary Soldier T54 612 Painted54mm callan
This gives the definition as stated in Article 47 of the Geneva Convention. Another, possibly more accurate, description, is that it is, arguably, the second oldest profession. Some of our readership would no doubt substitute that of "spy." (If you don't know what the first oldest profession is, you really should get out more!) All through history, governments and nation states have employed non nationals (i.e. foreign troops) to fight for them for various reasons, be they manpower shortages, the possesion of prized military skills, or simply to get unsavoury tasks performed by others. The auxiliary troops of the Roman Legions are famous, as are the Swiss and German Landsknechts of the Middle Ages. We the British, employed Hessian (German) mercenary troops in the American War of Independence, and the Scottish Rebellions.
The Finnish mercenaries who, during the last war (39-45 in case anyone has lost count!) fought as pure contract troops, displaying more professional skill and judgement than their employers when they went home, having declined to renew their contracts.
Our own Gurkhas I would hardly class as mercenaries, as I believe that these fine troops have bought their British nationality many times over with their blood and loyalty over their long and faithful years of service with our armed forces
.Col Callan aka Costas Georgiou was a Cypriot national and former Pte in The 1st Bn of the Parachute Regiment who was dishonourable discharged. In 1975 he was one of the original mercenaries recruited by John Banksd to fight with Holden Roberto’s FNLA in northern Angola against the Soviet backed MPLA forces.

In a n early operation Georgio ana few other mercenaries and FNLA troops ambushed a large column of MPLA troops and armoured killing some 60 IIRC and destroying several T-34s and other AFVs.

Roberto was so impressed he supposedly promoted Georgion who called himself Callan to Colonel on the spot and made him the commander of the mercenary contingent. Another mercenary was sent back to England with orders top recruit a battalion of Brits.

Callan while brave and most likely a competant solider may have lacked leadership training or skills but we wern't there so its wrong to judge. The second continent of mercenaries did include some professional soldiers was mostly made up of WALTs and wannabes (could have recruited from the Internet if it had existed then). The results were obvious.

The MPLA eventually triumphed ( with massive Cuban and Soviet assistance) and several of mercenaries unlucky enough to have not left Northern Angola including Callan were captured, tried and executed.

He was one of the most violent and bloody battles all over the Western front during World War I; began on 21 February 1916 and ended in December of that year, seeing opposing the German army, led by Chief of staff, General Erich von Falkenhayn,  and the French army, led by Commander-in-Chief Joseph Joffre  replaced at the end of 1916 with General Robert Nivelle.

Verdun formed a crucial turning point in the war marked the time when the main weight of transactions on the Western front came from France to the British Empire, made concrete possibilities vanish the still of Germany to win the war and was influential in the United States ' entry into the war in the conflict.

This frightening battle became a sacred national legend in France, synonymous with strength, heroism and suffering the effects of which persist even today and remember;tcontrolling your content and was the longest battle of all time,
involved almost three quarters of the French armies, and although in the story, and in the first world war, there were also several bloody battles, Verdun holds the unenviable record of battlefield with the greatest density of deaths per square metre.

The fact of weapons closest to Verdun came during the second world war and was the battle of Stalingrad, often considered a "Russian" Verdun,  but while at Stalingrad, the German army attempted the conquest of a strategically important city, at Verdun, the purpose of the offensive of Falkenhayn was to drain "drop" the French army. in the plans of the German Chief of staff, the importance of a moral and propaganda attack on Verdun would have made sure that all the effort you should have flowed into the French defence a cornerstone considered important for France. zouave
The aim was to convey the most number of enemy troops in one area, then hit him with the maximum possible with the violent use of artillery, so dissanguarlo slowly infliggendogli the largest number of possible losses.

lion of the desert

Lion of the Desert is a 1981 Libyan historical action film starring Anthony Quinn as Libyan tribal leader Omar Mukhtar fighting the Italian army in the years leading up to World War II. It was directed by Moustapha Akkad and funded by Muammar al-Gaddafi's government.

In 1929, Italian dictator Benito Mussolini (Rod Steiger) is still faced with the 20-year long war waged by patriots in Libya to combat Italian colonization and the establishment of 'The Fourth Shore' - the rebirth of a Roman Empire in Africa. Plastic 54mm 1920 Italians in Libya. Masde by an Italian or French firm in 1925
Mussolini appoints General Rodolfo Graziani (Oliver Reed) as his sixth governor to Libya, confident that the eminently accredited soldier can crush the rebellion and restore the dissipated glories of Imperial Rome.

Omar Mukhtar (Anthony Quinn) leads the resistance to the fascists. A teacher by profession, guerilla by obligation, Mukhtar has committed himself to a war that cannot be won in his own lifetime. Graziani controls Libya with the might of the Italian Army. Tanks and aircraft are used in the desert for the first time. The Italians also committed atrocities: killing of prisoners of war, destruction of crops, and hamletting populations behind barbed wire.

Crescent Arab

Despite their bravery, the Libyan Arabs and Berbers suffered heavy losses, their relatively primitive weaponry was no match for mechanised warfare; despite all this, they continued to fight, and managed to keep the Italians from achieving complete victory for 20 years. Graziani was only able to achieve victory through deceit, deception, violation of the laws of war and human rights, and by the use of tanks and aircraft.

Despite their lack of modern weaponry, Graziani recognised the skill of his adversary in waging guerilla warfare. In one scene, Mukhtar refuses to kill a defenseless young officer, instead giving him the Italian flag to return with. Mukhtar says that Islam forbids him to kill captured soldiers and demands that he only fight for his homeland, and that Muslims are taught to hate war itself.

In the end, Mukhtar is captured and tried as a rebel. His lawyer states that since Mukhtar had never accepted Italian rule, he cannot be tried as a rebel, and instead must be treated as a prisonder of war (which would save him from being hanged). The judge rejects this, and the film ends with Mukthar being executed by hanging.

Censorship in ItalyThe Italian authorities had banned the film in 1982 because, in the words of Prime Minister Giulio Andreotti, it was "damaging to the honor of the army. The last act of the government's intervention against the film was on April 7, 1987, in Trento; afterward, MPs from Democrazia Proletaria asked Parliament to show the movie at the Chamber of Deputies.
The movie was finally broadcast on television in Italy by Sky Italy on June 11 2009, during the official visit to Italy of Libya's leader Muammar al-Gaddafi.But never on National T.V . Most Italianms as you know have severe problems with truth and knowledge but thats not astonishing to you I suppose when understanding that the three clowned princes of something live here.
THE CLOWN PRINCE OF MILLSVILLE= Berlusconi. Thats his lawyer Mills in the U.K.
THE CLOWN PRINCE OF ROUND IN CIRCLES THEN DISAPPEARING UP HIS OWN ARSEHOLE=BERSANI The leader of the left
THE CLOWN PRINCE OF Giving monkey money to his wifes school and his son= BOSSI

Destined to remain a dubious footnote in books of movie trivia, this occasionally impressive epic from 1981 was financed with a budget of $35 million by Libyan dictator Muammar Qaddafi, who previously attempted the role of movie producer with the critically roasted Mohammad: Messenger of God. This effort didn't fare much better (it grossed approximately $1 million worldwide), and although some of its wartime action sequences are intelligently filmed, it's not likely to gain much more of a reputation on home video.
Under a shaggy Muslim beard, Anthony Quinn stars as Omar Mukhtar, the Arab hero and guerilla fighter who defended Libya against Benito Mussolini and Italy's attempted conquests during World War II.
As straightforward biography, the movie's got an admirable epic sweep, but a cliché-ridden script and uniformly bad performances (from a cast that includes John Gielgud, Oliver Reed, and Rod Steiger) make this little more than a curiosity for those wanting to learn more about Libyan history.

these are nearly perfect to convert you only need cta colonial helmets

The year is 1929 and dictator Benito Mussolini (Rod Steiger) is still faced with the 20-year long war waged by Bedouin patriots to combat Italian colonization in Africa. Mussolini appoints General Rodolfo Graziani (Oliver Reed) governor of Lybia, confident that he can crush the rebellion and restore the glories of Imperial Rome.

Inspirational in the Bedouin resistance toward the oppressors is the leadership of one man - Omar Mukhtar (Anthony Quinn). A teacher by profession, guerrilla by obligation, Mukhtar has committed himself to a war that cannot be won in his lifetime.

Making a film of such epic proportions as Lion of teh Desert demanded the approach of planning a vast military campaign. Whole villages had to be built to house the cast and crew of 400 in remote filming locations, along with a medical center to treat ailments from scorpion stings, to heat stroke, to broken bones suffered in battle scenes.

I Married a monster

Most muslim women in the uk will get it together with a white geezer if they can, you see it more and more these days on the tube on buses on the grass in the park. Its something you never ever saw once. And why not, some of the pakistani or iranian birds are beauts, this one got black eyes.

The alternative is below , an American woman married a Muslim.

"It is true Muslims do beat their wives, if not with their hand, its with there strict ways and controlling habits.

I know for a fact that it is true because I am a young American woman and I am married to a Muslim man. I have two kids from the past that is not his but he loves them as if they were his. But the problem is that we have no life.

Ever since we got married, he is very controlling. In 5 years, he has hit me 4 times.

Once we have got married, everything changed. I no longer have a car because he thinks I do not need one. I am not allowed to work. He dose not won't me to have anything to do with my family, see them or phone them unless it is my mother.

Me and my kids stay in the house all the time. We never get to go any where unless it is to shop for food at the store.

He is very strict. He checks my phone call records to make sure that I am not taking to anyone that I am not suppose to be talking to.

He tells me when to cook, when to wash, when to sleep, and what to wear. I have to wear long skirts. I am not allowed to wear pants.

My husband works 15 hours a day, while me and the kids are stuck in the house because he demands I must obey him. I am not allowed to have any friends.

No matter what I say or do he never trusts me. And I am below him. No matter what I say it is not important; no matter what I need, it is not Important to him. But everything he need or wants he gets and everything must be about him.

I am a good American women. His food is cooked everyday when he gets home, the house is cleaned very well everyday. I am a good house wife and I obey his every command.

I am crying as I write this e-mail because I am being abused by strictness and there is nothing I feel that I can do because I no longer have a job to support my kids. I have no family that will take me and my kids in if I leave.

I have no car. Before marriage, I had a job, I had a car and I supported my kids. He has taken everything away from me including my self-confidence.

I feel useless to myself and my kids. I have no outside life, friends, family, support, or help. I am always depressed and crying, never happy always sad.

Before I was a person who always smiled; no matter what, I could over come it. I was a happy person and loving no matter what. I'm still loving; I will help anyone, give them my last penny and the shirt off my back. I have a good heart and I am a good wife. I do not drink, club or ever done drugs because I came from a good family. He has taken everything from me and still demands more, I have nothing more to give and I feel so sad and useless because I can't help myself.

I cry day and night asking god why me. I am a good person what have I done to be punished like this. All I want to do is take my kids to the park, out to eat, to the beach, have family, friends or just some one to make me feel like I am needed other than cooking and cleaning.

Can some one please help me. I am to young for this and the outside world is passing by while me and my kids life is inside the house only. I am drowning in my own tears with no way out and I can't take it anymore. I want my kids to have a life while they are young"
